If you feel shy about drawing, if you “can’t draw a straight line,” if you like to draw but seem to get stuck, this is the class for you! In this class the mysteries of drawing will be de-mystified and you will discover the joys and rewards of drawing.  

The class will focus on “seeing skills,” presented through interesting, engaging drawing exercises, that will lead you to discover and develop abilities you didn’t know you had.  A fun and supportive class.

Beginner Drawing Materials List

Sketchbook:
9 x 12 inches or 11 x 14 in. Sketchbook of your choice
11x14 is the preferable size, however, 9x12 is easier to carry around.

Pencils:
1 or 2 each of 2H, HB, 2B 4B, or, complete pack of pencils in full H to B range

Eraser:
1 Kneadable
1 white plastic
any other that appeals to you

Pencil Sharpener

Charcoal:
Several sticks or Box of Soft vine or willow charcoal, or, soft (yellow box) Nitram charcoal
1 stick Compressed charcoal (soft)

Conté
1, 2 or 3 sticks in earth tones of your choice or Set of conté sticks

Additional supplies you might like for your drawing projects:
Large newsprint or cartridge paper pad, 18x24 in.
Drawing board to fit large paper
Charcoal Paper drawing pad
Loose sheets of cotton rag paper (luscious to draw on, can be cut down to smaller sizes)
Japanese paper (something different!)
Charcoal sand paper sharpening block
Fat graphite pencils or Graphite sticks
spray fixative (for charcoal and conté drawings that smudge easily)
apron
portfolio to carry your drawings and supplies

All ARTiculations workshops require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. In the event of insufficient enrolment, registrants will be notified prior to the workshop start date and a full refund will be given. No refunds/credits will be provided for withdrawal fewer than one week prior to the start of class. ARTiculations does not provide make-up classes or substitutions.
