Turn a design of your choice, into a woodcut print!  In woodcut printing, the wood is carved away, leaving the design on the surface to be inked and printed. This class will guide you in the use of wood carving tools, carving techniques, and printing your woodcut with black or coloured inks on a manual printing press, to achieve the effect you desire.

About the Instructor

Pamela was born in Halifax, N.S., and grew up in Toronto. She received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Brandeis University near Boston, MA.

Pamela Dodds’ practice in painting and printmaking explores the complexities and nuances of human relationships, primarily through figure-based imagery. Her work examines the uniqueness of personal experience and interconnectedness of humanity across time and space. She has exhibited regularly in Canada and the USA and prints have been purchased by the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio, Capital One Bank, Toronto, among others, and many individuals. In 2017, Visual Arts Centre of Clarington, Ontario, presented Come Closer, a survey exhibition of her work in relief printmaking including her immersive installation of tall, colour relief prints entitled Undertow. Selections from Undertow have since appeared in Norway, Spain, Wales, Toronto and upcoming at Centre [3], Hamilton, ON. As a printer in Open Studio’s Visiting Artist program, Dodds supports accomplished artists to realize their visions in print media. She enjoys introducing creative people of all levels to relief printmaking.
