Our Store(y)

Our mission is to create meaningful connections between artists, their materials, and the creative process.

As practicing artists, we understand the care and energy that goes into your work, and the difference it makes to have a knowledgeable community to support and celebrate that. The ARTiculations team aspires to be both helpful and accessible. Our approach to service means asking questions, listening, and learning about you, your work and your current materials. We can personally vouch for our unique selection of high-quality art materials and tools; hand-selected for value, and influenced by our discussions with you.

We want to help you find the best fit, not the most expensive product. We are proud of the lasting relationships we build with artists - in Toronto and beyond -  and are honoured to be trusted as their choice for materials.

We believe in the power of creativity and the joy of making art.

So, please, tell us all about your project – we want to hear about it.

Meet the Team

Heather Phillips (she/her) Owner & Creative Navigator

Heather is an ambitious entrepreneur, artist, curator and instructor. She graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from York University in 2008, specializing in sculpture and painting. She co-founded creative hub ARTiculations in 2011 out of a desire to create meaningful connections between artists, their materials and the creative process. In the 10+ years since opening, Heather has coordinated over 500 art classes and workshops, curated over 70 exhibitions and coordinated close to 50 community events.

Heather sits on the board of directors for the Junction BIA, and is very hands-on in community programming. In addition to maintaining ARTiculations and her own artistic practice, Heather is a freelance instructor, delivering workshops which can be adapted for a variety of groups. She also develops custom trainings, workshops, and sessions for groups. Please get in touch if you think she would be a good fit to work with you on something.

Erin MacKeen (she/her) Creative Navigator

Our newest addition, Erin joined the ARTiculations Team in 2022. Although, from the moment she started, it was as if she had always been here. She is an artist, educator, designer, and professional tarot reader.

Her integrated practice is an exploration of care: how people collectively tend to each other, become better resourced, share tools for self-discovery, and cultivate the safety and support needed to be their authentic selves in a complicated world.

Her work focuses on storytelling and crafting narratives that challenge and resist the systems in which people find themselves and their ideas about who they “should” be. She is interested in helping individuals find ways to express their unique perspectives and identify their contributions.

She works in artist-run, cooperative spaces, building communities of practice and helping people learn to make things.
