Aurum Metallic Arts Thin Metalpoints for silverpoint drawing are 0.9 mm diametre, 2" in length, and shaped to a cone only on one end. Including: Silver, Sterling Silver, Brass, Red Brass, Yellow Brass, Copper, Bronze, Aluminum, Lead, and Nickel Silver.

Available in two widths, the wide point (2 mm diameter) is shaped on both ends, a cone on one end and a bevel on the other end. The thin point (0.9 mm) is shaped to a cone only on one end. All points measure 5 cm (2 inches) in length.

Silverpoints are pure silver containing 99.9% silver. Sterling Silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.

Silverpoints are available in two hardnesses: dead soft and half hard. Dead soft, which refers to the hardness of the point, is usually used to describe silver or sterling silver wire. Dead-soft wire has not been hardened at all—a hardness of 0, making it the most malleable. Half-hard is wire manufactured with a hardness of 2, and fully hardened wire is wire with a hardness of 4. Half-hard wire is slightly stiffer than dead-soft wire.

Copper Point is made from pure copper (99.9%) wire. Copper does not react with water but it does slowly react with atmospheric oxygen to form a layer of brown-black copper oxide.

Bronze Point is made from Jewelry Bronze wire.

Brass Points are available in two other types: red and yellow brass. Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc; the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties.

Red Brass Point is made from brass alloy wire also known as gunmetal, is actually a type of bronze—typically an alloy of copper, tin and zinc.

Yellow Brass Point is made from cartridge brass alloy wire.

Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc; the proportions of zinc and copper can be varied to create a range of brasses with varying properties. Aurum Yellow Brass is C260 Cartridge Brass is produced from a combination of 70% copper and 30% zinc. Among yellow brass, it has the highest ductility and has an attractive smooth, yellow brass finish. The high zinc content of C260 gives it the optimum combination of strength and ductility while maintaining the high formability of copper.

Nickel Silver Point is made from dead soft, nickel silver wire composed of 18% nickel, 17% zinc, and 65% copper.

Lead Point is made from 99.9% lead wire.

Aluminum Point is made from 1100 alloy aluminum wire. With a minimum of 99% aluminum, it is the most heavily alloyed of the 1000 series.
