Making Ink from Plants
Thursday May 28 | 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Plants are an abundant source of colour that be found as close as our own kitchens. Learning how to extract colour from these natural sources is a fun and meaningful way to create your own art materials.

Spend an evening with Erin MacKeen learning the process for making inks from kitchen scraps: onion skins, rosemary, and turmeric. She will step you through the equipment you’ll need, how to treat your dye materials to coax colour from them, and how to prepare what you extract for use as an ink.

Pre-made samples of inks will be provided so that you can experiment with them and see how they work on different papers with various tools while in the studio.

All materials are provided.
