Mixed Media Collage: Cards & Multiples with Loree Ovens

Saturday November 9, 1-4pm

Collage is a skill, explore different design possibilities and in order to see what works and what doesn't. Practising collage also helps to improve your sense of design. Create small works on paper or cards (provided) through drawing and painting. Possibly alter previously made works and found images into new pieces. We will start off doing some quick drawing/doodling exercises to warm up. A variety of mediums and techniques will be discussed for you to try out.

Bring in any small works on paper that you are willing to alter into a collage, everything else will be provided.*Please note that students may bring in work on any type of paper, including Yupo, Western and Asian paper. 

Students: please bring a folder to take home the works.

About Loree

Loree Ovens is a visual artist working in a variety of media including a wide range of printmaking techniques. Her specialties include etching, collagraph, drypoint, relief and screen. Her background in craft and textiles has led her to produce encaustic, sculptural and metal work. Loree is also known for her use of washi (handmade Japanese paper).

She enjoys teaching all ages & skill levels.

Loree’s work has been shown in national and international exhibitions in Canada, Japan, United States, Taiwan, Australia and Scotland. Her work is part of both private and public collections including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia and SGC International.

Loree Ovens is a member of Propeller Gallery and Open Studio in Toronto.
