Join us for a full weekend of fun, community, and sketching in the Junction!

Friday, September 12 - Junction Interiors Sketch Party
Explore some of our favourite Junction interiors on a guided sketch crawl. A perfect warm-up to the weekend where you can capture unique spaces and connect with fellow artists. Times and locations TBA

Saturday, September 13 - Breakfast Social & Competition
Start your day with a delicious breakfast social to fuel up, then jump into the main competition from 11 am to 4 pm. Sketch en plein air throughout the Junction neighbourhood.

Sunday, September 14 - Round Table Discussion & Demos
Join us for an engaging day of talks, demonstrations, and conversations. Details and guest speakers to be announced soon!

All registered participants are invited to showcase their work in this exciting group exhibition at ARTiculations.

Online registration is open now until September 12, 2025.
In-store registration available Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Entry Fees

• Adults: $30 + HST until September 12; $35 + HST on September 13

• Seniors (65+): $25 + HST until September 12; $30 + HST on September 13

• Youth (Under 18): $20 + HST until September 12; $25 + HST on September 13

Entry fees are non-refundable. Please ensure you can participate in the competition on Saturday, September 13 from 11 am to 4 pm.

*registered participants will be given 20% off a purchase of a new sketchbook for use in the competition. This can be redeemed between September 2nd to September 12th.

Registration Package Pick-Up

Registration packages will be available for pick-up starting Saturday, September 13 at 10:30 am at ARTiculations. Your package includes your registration ID, a map of the Junction competition boundaries, and some goodies to keep your creativity flowing.

Adjudication Criteria

• Sketches must be created within the designated competition boundaries (map provided).
• Quality of execution; composition, design, and technique. 
• Creativity & originality of the work.

Meet your Adjudicator: Isabel Santos

Isabel Santos is the self-taught artist behind Modellatura Arts who developed her sketching skills through YouTube tutorials and books since 2014. Initially studying architecture before switching to business, she combines analytical thinking with creativity in her art.

Since discovering Urban Sketchers Toronto in 2016 via Meetup, she has passionately captured cityscapes, landscapes, and nature using pen, ink, and watercolors, embracing the challenge of architectural drawing despite not being a trained architect.

Isabel also helps coordinate 15 Urban Sketchers chapters across Canada and volunteers with the Global Urban Sketchers Organization’s Membership Team, supporting the wider community. Urban Sketchers (USk) is a global non-profit promoting drawing on location worldwide.

Rules and Guidelines

• Competition day is Saturday, September 13th, 2025, from 11 am to 4 pm.
• Sketches must be started and completed en plein air (outside on location) within the competition boundaries on September 13. We will provide a 2025 map showing boundaries upon registration.
• Submit one photo of your in-progress sketch setup by 4:30 pm on September 13th to [email protected] to help us promote the event.
• Submit one photo of your finished work by 4:30 pm on September 13th.
• Artist must provide their own materials.
• Artwork (sketchbooks or single pages) for the exhibition must be submitted no later than 4:30 pm on Saturday, September 13th.
• Sketchbook submissions will display one marked page only. Please choose and mark which page to exhibit prior to submitting
• Artwork must include your name and contact info on the back or inside the sketchbook.
• None of the artwork submitted will be listed for sale.
• Artwork pick-up dates will be announced post exhibition.
