About Isabel

Isabel Santos is the creative force behind Modellatura Arts. A self-taught artist, she developed her sketching skills by exploring YouTube tutorials and immersing herself in books from libraries and second-hand shops since she began sketching in 2014.

Isabel initially started her university studies in architecture, but soon shifted her focus to business. This background now complements her artistic pursuits by balancing analytical thinking with creativity.

Her journey into urban sketching began in 2016 when she discovered Urban Sketchers Toronto through the Meetup app. Drawn by curiosity and the group's convenient location just across from her home, Isabel joined to connect with fellow artists and has been passionately urban sketching ever since.

She brings cityscapes, landscapes, and nature to life using pen and ink, complemented by watercolors. While many artists find architectural drawing challenging, Isabel embraces the complexity of historic buildings and bustling urban scenes with enthusiasm. Although she is not a trained architect, she deeply empathizes with artists who struggle to master the technical aspects of perspective drawing.

Aside from her involvement with Urban Sketchers Toronto, Isabel actively coordinates with administrators of 15 urban sketchers chapters across Canada, helping to unify and strengthen the national community. She also volunteers on the Membership Team of the Global Urban Sketchers Organization, supporting the wider sketching community she loves.

Urban Sketchers (USk) is a global non-profit organization that promotes drawing on location to show the world one drawing at a time.
