Intermediate Watercolour: Landscapes & Cityscapes (4wk)

Students: 10 

In this intermediate level class, students will review and develop the elements of landscape: trees: water; skies; rocks; recession into depth. We’ll aim to complete two finished landscapes. Following that we’ll use a loose  descriptive technique, combining ink and wash for cityscapes and architecture. Students can bring their own travel photos. 

Time permitting, we’ll experiment with a wash and goauche treatment on Tibetan paper.

• Tubes of the following colours which you can load the palette with:
  Cerulean Blue
  Cobalt Blue
  French Ultramarine Blue (Holbein Ultramarine Deep)
  Prussian Blue
  Aureolin Yellow (or Hansa) (a transparent yellow)
  Quinacridone Gold
  Permanent Rose (or equivalent) (Holbein Quinacridone Red)
  Winsor Red or da Vinci Red (the equivalent of cadmium red medium) (Holbein Cadmium Red Light)
  Yellow Ochre
  Burnt Sienna
  
  
• 1 sheet of 140lb Arches CP (rag paper) 22 X 30” or Hahnemuhle Expressions Watercolour 100% Cotton Rag Sheet 300gsm - 19.69" x 25.59"
  
  
• Round brushes: 4, 8,10,12
  
  
• 1” Wash brush
  
  
• HB Pencil (standard or mechanical pencil)
  
  
• Vinyl eraser
  
  
• Small sketchbook for notes and sketches
  
  
• 1 roll of painter's tape
