Travel Sketching with Kelley Aitken (4wk) Wednesdays 2-5pm April 5-26, 2023
In this workshop we will cover some of the techniques for keeping an illustrated journal, sketching and painting techniques for keeping it fast and loose while drawing people, places and things during our travels.
Printmaking with Multiple Plates - April 1, 2023 | 1:00 - 4:00pm
Using multiple plates can be helpful in creating more dynamic prints! In this 3hr workshop with artist Loree Ovens, participants will learn to use more than one plate to create a print on an etching press. Previous experience is helpful but not mandatory.

Turn a design of your choice, into a woodcut print! This class will guide you in the use of wood carving tools, carving techniques, and printing your woodcut with black or coloured inks on a manual printing press, to achieve the effect you desire.
This course will introduce colour mixing techniques, and explore the use of watercolour’s flow and transparency properties. Students will learn to shade & model simple objects using principles that help produce strong colour and crisp edges where desired.
Loree Ovens has been using washi in her practice for over 25 years and it never fails to inspire. In this mixed media workshop series, Loree will guide you in exploring several types of washi papers and mediums to add to your own practice!

Learn how to make prints from found materials such as lace, feathers & thin textures on an etching press in this 3 hour workshop with artist Loree Ovens. Various ways to compose, apply ink & play with embossment will be explored. No experience is required
If you feel shy about drawing, if you “can’t draw a straight line,” if you like to draw but seem to get stuck, this is the class for you! In this class the mysteries of drawing will be de-mystified and you will discover the joys and rewards of drawing.

In this 3 hour workshop, participants will be introduced to the process of using watercolour to create prints both on and off the press. It is a low-cost technique that can easily be set up in a home studio. No experience is required. Materials Included.
